Child of the Week – Damon

damon_webThe opportunity to change the life of child in need is just a phone call away. All it takes is 8 hours a month to change a kid’s life, Fundamentally, For the Better, Forever!

Meet Damon, an artistic 12 year old with a calm, yet fiery persona. Damon needs a Big Brother because he is unable to get out and do many things, but he is willing to experience new adventures.  Damon’s career goal is to enlist in the military, and firmly believes that is what he will pursue.

Damon considers himself an average student, but enjoys math and reading the most of any subjects. An avid reader of the Percy Jackson novels, Damon says reading is one of his favorite things to do. Despite being a serious reader, Damon also enjoys going outside and doing things such as swimming and fishing, and could really benefit from a Big Brother willing to take him out and do these things.

Superman top’s Damon’s heroes list for one reason, “he only has one weakness”. He enjoys hanging out, building with Legos, and playing video games.

Research proves that Boys matched to a Big Brother are 53% less likely to go to prison when they grow up. That means a boy facing adversity matched to a Big Brother can have a fighting chance to go to college, own a home, raise a family, start a business, develop friendships, and maybe become a Big Brother when he is older.

The need for male volunteers is reflected through one number, fifty-three. To learn more about becoming a Big Brother, Big Sister, Big Family, or Big Couple, please call 778.5135, visit our website at azbigs.org, or ‘Friend’ us on Facebook.
