Rio Taught Me To Be Responsible
"My dad died when I was 4 and my mom signed me up for a Big Brother and It's a good thing she did", Gary Wilson, owner of Prescott's Advanced Coatings Inc. admitted. "I've always been pretty intense" he added with a grin. In 1977, Gary was eventually matched to Rio Zaro, who worked at the Prescott Post Office but was best known for his sports reporting. "It seemed like Rio knew everyone in town and pretty soon they all knew that I was his Little Brother," he added. Gary ended up going to a lot of games with his Big Brother and Rio came to a lot of Gary's baseball and football games. But that's not what Gary remembers most, "I couldn't get in any kind of trouble without Rio finding out." "Rio taught me to be responsible for my actions and that stuck with me." He added. Rio's lessons are not only demonstrated in his successful business, but in Gary's previous service as a Big Brother and his leadership in local youth baseball and football associations. Gary and his wife Chris have two children. |
