When joy is present in a child’s heart, his future can be filled with hope. Big Brothers and Big Sisters spark hope through their compassion and willingness to make a difference.
Bob and Carol Lee have been a couple’s match with their Little Zack since May of 2009. When Zack entered the Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters organization, he didn’t have a consistent male presence in his life. He needed a Big Couple willing to spend 8 hours a month with him to help promote positivity in his life. Despite the struggles Zack faced at an early age, Bob and Carol Lee’s consistency ultimately helped shape Zack into the kind and greatly improved child he is today.
Bob and Carol Lee have found that changing Zack’s life has been as simple as taking him on everyday outings. These outings include going hiking, playing baseball, going to the movies, bowling, reading together, going to the lake, and attending free YBBBS Events along with many other activities. They thoroughly enjoy their outings together, and Zack’s expressions when he is around Bob and Carol Lee show that he truly loves his Bigs!
The happiness contained within Little Zack’s smile is a true testament to how much of a difference 8 hours a month can make. As a child who was forced to face many unfair hardships, Zack now has two consistent and loving role models to help guide him towards success in life. Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters needs Big Brothers, Big Couples and Big Families to mentor boys facing adversity.
