A mountain looks small at a distance, but can be intimidating up close when you have to climb it. Children need support to overcome the obstacles ahead of them, and a Big can offer hope.
Meet David, an 11 year old boy who needs a Big Brother to lift his spirits and take interest in his passion for building and fixing things. About a year ago, David witnessed the unfortunate passing of his mother, and needs a positive male role model to help him cope with the loss. He is a mellow young boy who just needs a gentle nudge in the right direction.
When he grows up, David plans on joining the Marines and serving his country. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing the Alto-Saxophone, and watching the X-Games. David does not consider himself an “arts and crafts guy”, but he is willing to do silly things at times.
For most of the children in Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters, life has been a constant uphill battle. Many have yet to see the top, but 8 hours a month can help a child reach their peak.
