When joy is present in a child’s heart, his future can be filled with hope. Big Brothers and Big Sisters spark hope through their compassion and willingness to make a difference.
Roger and Marion have been a couple’s match with their Little Skyler since April of 2013. Skyler lives in a busy household with five siblings. Going out with Roger and Marion gives Skyler the opportunity to have individualized attention and he can explore new activities. Skyler was excited to have Bigs of his own; his two older sisters had been involved with our program for several years.
Roger and Marion have found that impacting Skyler’s life has been as simple as taking him on everyday outings. These outings include going on walks, playing board games, going to Peter Piper Pizza, playing with Roger and Marion’s dogs, and attending free YBBBS Events along with many other activities. They thoroughly enjoy their outings together. Skyler says he is very happy with his Bigs.
The happiness contained within Little Skyler’s smile is a true testament to how much of a difference 8 hours a month can make. Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters needs Big Brothers, Big Couples and Big Families to mentor children facing adversity.
