Children facing adversity need positive direction. The smallest of deeds can serve the biggest needs. Eight hours a month is all it takes to change a child’s life.
Meet O’rion, a creative 10 year old who enjoys watching SpongeBob Squarepants, creating art, playing soccer, and going to museums. O’rion needs a Big Brother because he rarely gets to see his father, and could benefit from hanging out with a postivie male role model 2 to 4 times a month. Spending 8 hours a month with a Big Brother can help O’rion achieve his education, athletic, and career goals, and ultimately lead him to a successful adulthood. When he grows up, O’rion plans on becoming a lawyer and helping to prove people’s innocence.
Others describe O’rion as a respectful, kind, thoughtful, and sensitive boy who likes to play outside and is very smart. He also enjoys building forts, riding his bike, and learning about Geography. Friends make him happy. O’rion cares the most about his education, and would like to learn how to play a musical instrument.
Society’s grip on our youth is growing stronger by the minute. A boy faces many influences at a young age. Some influences can be beneficial, while others can prove harmful. There are nearly 100 boys in Prescott Valley alone in need of a Big Brother, and many of these boys do not have positive male role models in their lives.
