HUSD Superintendent and Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters Executive Board Member and Program Chair Dan Streeter won the Prescott Area Leadership Man of the Year award Wednesday, April 5. Congratulations, Dan!
From the PAL program, “As Superintendent of Humboldt Unified School District, Dan is guided by a firm belief in the link between strong support for children and a healthy, thriving community. He has skillfully built bridges between staff, administrators and the School Board to implement improved curriculum and engage parents. Reaching beyond the schoolroom, Dan is on the Board of Directors for the Prescott Valley Chamber of Commerce, Prescott Valley Economic Development Foundation, and Prescott Little League and is a staunch supporter of the Hungry Kids program. Additionally, as Program Chair for Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters, Dan designated “Liaisons” in elementary and middle schools to develop relationships with vulnerable students and families and refer children to YBBBS. In just four months, nearly 50 children have been referred.”
According to Dan, “Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters is a natural partnership with the Humboldt Unified School District. The kids served through their program are the same kids we serve every day. We know that kids thrive under positive relationships and role models. These mentorships guarantee our students know that they are cared for and have someone to turn to when faced with daily challenges.”
The staff and board of YBBBS feel fortunate to have such a strong advocate for children supporting our mission and it was our pleasure to nominate Dan.
Rebecca Finken, YBBBS Board Chair, shared “Congratulations, Dan. We are proud and excited for you. Your acceptance speech was so eloquent and it was an honor to be a part of your award dinner. YBBBS had a table at the event to show our support of Dan. Thanks to Lynn and her staff, Brian, Cheryl, Robin, Kathy Morrow, Julie Ruttle, Katie Kelly, my husband Ron and myself were there. Thanks Darla DeVille for your support as well, at the APS table. It was a full house and a very exciting evening.”
