Meet Alexander. He is a very sweet, well- mannered, polite kid who attends Del Rio Elementary and lives with his mother and younger sister in Chino Valley. He doesn’t see a lot of his father, who lives out of state, and is in need of a positive male role model in his life.
Alexander really likes school, gets good grades, and reads every night before he goes to bed. He enjoys playing freeze tag and Angry Birds, fixing his Transformers, and cooking. Alexander said he wants to be a gardener when he grows up.
Alexander’s mother feels her son would greatly benefit from having a Big Brother who is outgoing and adventurous. Things Alexander would like to do with a Big Brother include flying kites, swimming, camping, hiking, fishing, going to the movies, driving go-carts, photography, gardening, bowling, arts and crafts, and playing baseball basketball, soccer and football.
You don’t have to change your life to change the life of a child like Alexander. Just a few hours a couple of times a month is enough to make a difference as a Big Brother or Big Sister. You can also be a Big as a Couple Match or with your whole family as a Family Match. Research shows that kids matched with a “Big” are, on average, 40 percent less likely to get arrested, compared to all other kids their age.
