PRESCOTT – During four weeks spanning May to June, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America partnered with ULTA Beauty in a nationwide fundraising campaign. At the Prescott Valley store, the ULTA Beauty team joined the effort and successfully raised just over $1,600 for Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters (YBBBS).

“We’re honored to partner with our local Prescott Valley ULTA Beauty store and we thank the wonderful staff members and customers who invested themselves in our mission, which is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth,” shared YBBBS Executive Director Kristen Kerns.

“Today, our youth are facing daunting challenges, from mental health crises to inequality. While these problems are complex, mentorship has proven to be an important part of helping young people reach their potential.”

For over 50 years, YBBBS has served over 12,000 young people in Yavapai County, providing adult mentors in community, family or school-based matches.

Nationwide, the partnership raised $2.4 million helping reach hundreds of thousands of young people across the country.

Mentorship has proven outcomes:

• 92% of Littles feel like their match gives them a sense of belonging.

• 94% of Littles feel like they have a special adult in their life who they can turn to.

• 92% of Littles report confidence in completing their schoolwork.

• 84% of Littles have better grades, academic goals and confidence.

• 83% of Littles plan to graduate high school and college.

• 82% of Littles maintained or improved their mental health while in our program.
